From 29 May, a highly successful photo essay will be on view at Mai Manó House, juxtaposing the analogue, black-and-white works of London-based Wanda Martin and her father, Gábor Martin, a conceptual documentarian. Gábor photographed young people partying in Békéscsaba, in the socialist Hungary of the 1960s and 1970s, while Wanda captured their counterparts in contemporary East London. These images speak of the desire for fun and love, the wish to step out of the everyday—something that is universal, valid across ages, national borders and political regimes.
