International Garden Photographer of the Year continues to be one of the world’s most respected photography competitions and exhibition, particularly within the genres of garden, plant, flower and botanical photography.

The main competition closes on October 31 every year. Winners are announced at the opening of the launch exhibition, the following February.

There are regular main competition categories each year including favourites such as; ‘The Beauty of Plants’, ‘Beautiful Gardens’ and ‘Abstract Views’ plus there are 5 photo projects and numerous seasonal special awards – for example: ‘Captured at Kew’.

Entries are welcome from amateurs and professionals alike, from any country in the world. The competition as a whole attracts thousands of individual entries annually, from across the world.

There is a fee for entering the competition which helps to cover the expense of administration, prizes and the exhibition tour. This fee is £16 for 4 single images (‘Single Entry’), or £30 for a portfolio of 6 images. How to Enter

Breathing Spaces

This category celebrates peaceful images of open spaces and the places where we love to relax and enjoy the feeling of well-being. It could be that people (with permission) feature in the landscape of your photography or it could be plants and/or wildlife; perhaps a landscape, a wide vista or a favourite hideaway. Either way there must be connection to flora which is at the heart of all IGPOTY categories and the competition. The judges will be looking for those images that express peace, contentment and enjoyment.

(Admission fees withstanding) you are allowed to enter your photographs taken at National Trust sites into the competition. If your entry is from a National Trust property please note our rule 10.1.8 You agree not to use, or permit the use of, any images taken of or from National Trust sites for any purpose other than entering this competition or your own personal use. You expressly agree not to use such images for commercial purposes such as sale or licence to third parties.
