With this letter we write to invite you to take part in the international photographic exhibition “Citylights” taking place in Krakow, Poland in January 2005.

The exhibition will consist of 25 photographic works that are to be shown as posters in the lightboxes of 25 different bus stops across the city.
Every poster will show a different city of the European Union, so that every bus stop represents one of the 25 countries of the EU. Using the public transport, passengers are able to do a symbolic travel through Europe.

The exhibition will consist of 25 photographic works that are to be shown as posters in the lightboxes of 25 different bus stops across the city.
Every poster will show a different city of the European Union, so that every bus stop represents one of the 25 countries of the EU. Using the public transport, passengers are able to do a symbolic travel through Europe.

We are now looking for artists who want to photograph a city within their country.

The photos should show an interesting, characteristic place of one of the main cities of the EU. The place does not have to be especially popular (such as those, that are often represented on postcards). It is up to the artist to decide what place represents best the character of the city he/she lives in.

The photos must be in colour, without any kind of manipulation that could deform a realistic presentation of the place. (for example, altering the existing colours digitally.)
Due to format of the lightboxes, the photos have to be in portrait format:
not in landscape format.

Every photo should be accompanied by a separate short text, describing the history of the photographed place or the idea behind the photo, the reason for the choice. These sentences will be shown together with the photographs, at the bottom of every poster.

The final photograph has to be in tiff-format, 120 x 150 cm, 120dpi.

If you want to participate at the exhibition, please send a jpg version of your photograph before the 30th of October 2004 via Email to: citylights@go2.pl
It is possible to send several examples.
As only one photograph can be chosen from every country, a selection will have to take place. On or before the 15th of November 2004 we will inform you, if your photo will take part at the exhibition. Only then we will ask you to send in a cd with the chosen photograph in tiff-format.
