Capa-nagydíj 2021 – nyilvános prezentációk és eredményhirdetés

A Robert Capa Kortárs Fotográfiai Központ névadója, Robert Capa születésének 108. évfordulója alkalmából tisztelettel meghívja Önt a Capa-nagydíj idei nyilvános prezentációjára és eredményhirdetésére.
Időpont: 2021. október 21., csütörtök, 15 órától és 18 órától

NYILVÁNOS PREZENTÁCIÓ
A három tavaly kiválasztott ösztöndíjas beszámol a zsűrinek az elmúlt évben végzett munkájáról egy nyilvános prezentáció keretében. Az esemény angol nyelven, tolmácsolás nélkül zajlik. A prezentáció közben megtekinthető a három alkotó beszámoló kiállítása is a Capa Központ Project Room termében.

• Turós Balázs: A dolgok természete

DÍJÁTADÓ, MEGNYITÓ
A délutáni prezentációk alapján a zsűri a három ösztöndíjas közül az egyik alkotónak átadja – immár hatodik alkalommal – a Capa-nagydíjat. A díjátadó egyben a három ösztöndíjas beszámoló kiállításának megnyitója.
EREDMÉNYHIRDETÉS
Egyúttal bejelentjük a jövő évi Capa-nagydíj 2022 három új ösztöndíjasát is.
A vendégeket Kőrösi Orsolya, a Capa Központ ügyvezető igazgatója és Virágvölgyi István, a Capa-nagydíj titkára köszönti.
Az esemény magyar nyelven, tolmácsolás nélkül zajlik.

A zsűri a prezentáción és a díjátadón is részt vesz, melynek idei tagjai:
• Claudia Küssel független kurátor, művészettörténész
• Kateryna Radchenko kurátor, fotográfus, az Odesa Photo Days fesztivál alapító igazgatója (Ukrajna)
• Anna-Kaisa Rastenberger, a Finn Fotográfiai Múzeum vezető kurátora, egyetemi tanár (Finnország)
• Karin Rehn-Kaufmann, a Leica Galleries International művészeti igazgatója és vezető képviselője, a Leica Oskar Barnack Award szervezője (Ausztria)
• Szatmári Gergely DLA fotográfus, a MATE Rippl-Rónai Művészeti Intézet docense, a mesterképzés vezetője, a zsűri elnöke

Capa-nagydíj 2021

A Capa Központ 2014-ben alapította meg a Robert Capa Magyar Fotográfiai Nagydíjat azon alkotók munkájának elismerésére, akik kiemelkedő teljesítményt nyújtanak a magyar fotográfia bármely területén. A Capa-nagydíj 2020-as zsűrije tavaly októberben három ösztöndíjast választott ki a beérkezett pályaművek alkotói közül, ők hárman egy – koronavírus-járvánnyal nehezített – éven keresztül dolgoztak tovább az itt bemutatott munkáikon.
Bácsi Róbert László Hegyi-Karabah – Hiányzó generációk című sorozatában az évtizedek óta bizonytalan politikai helyzetben billegő, katonai konfliktusok színteréül is szolgáló kaukázusi területen élő emberek sorsát mutatja fel a dokumentarista fotográfia eszközeivel. Szombat Éva Orgazmust kérek, nem rózsát című anyagával a női szexualitást fókuszba téve tabudöntögető, de mégis játékos módon igyekszik a nők társadalmi helyzetére tágabban is reagálni. Turós Balázs pedig A dolgok természete című személyes hangú munkájában demens nagymamáját középpontba helyezve próbál közelebb kerülni az elmúlás örök kérdéséhez, miközben az anyaghoz kötődő saját viszonyát is górcső alá veszi.
A Capa-nagydíj 2021-es zsűrije e munkák és az ösztöndíjasok nyilvános prezentációja alapján hatodik alkalommal ítélte oda a kiállítás megnyitásának napján a hárommillió forintos díjazással járó Capa-nagydíjat.

On the occasion of the 108th anniversary of the birth of Robert Capa, the eponym of the Robert Capa Centre for Contemporary Photography, we cordially invite you to the public presentation and awards ceremony of the Capa Grand Prize Hungary.
Date: October 21, 2021, from 3pm and 6pm

PUBLIC PRESENTATIONS
The three fellows selected last year will give a public presentation to the jury on their work over the past year. The event will be held in English (without interpretation). During the presentations the accompanying exhibition of the three artists’ will be on view in the Project Room of the Capa Centre.

OPENING, AWARDS CEREMONY
Based on the afternoon presentations, the jury will award the Capa Grand Prize Hungary to one of the three fellows – for the sixth time. The award ceremony will also be the opening of the exhibition of the three fellows.
At the same time, the three incoming fellows for next year’s Capa Grand Prize 2022 will be announced.
Greetings by: Orsolya Kőrösi, managing director of the Capa Center and István Virágvölgyi, secretary of the Capa Grand Prize Hungary.
The event will be held in Hungarian without interpretation.

The jury will attend both the presentations and the awards ceremony, of which this year’s members are:
• Claudia Küssel independent curator, art historian
• Kateryna Radchenko curator, photographer, photography researcher, founding director of Odesa Photo Days festival (Ukraine)
• Anna-Kaisa Rastenberger chief curator of The Finnish Museum of Photography, professor (Finland)
• Karin Rehn-Kaufmann art director and chief representative of Leica Galleries International, organiser of the Leica Oskar Barnack Award (Austria)

Capa Grand Prize Hungary 2021

The Robert Capa Photography Grand Prize Hungary was established by the Capa Center in 2014 to recognize the work of artists who have made outstanding achievements in any field of Hungarian photography. Last October, the jury of the Capa Grand Prize Hungary 2020 selected three fellows from among the entries received, three of whom continued to work on their work for a year, made difficult by the Covid-19 epidemic.
Róbert László Bácsi’s series Nagorno-Karabakh – Missing Generations uses the classical toolkit of documentary photography to depict the human destinies of this Caucasus region, which has been in a precarious political situation and has been the scene of military conflicts for decades. Éva Szombat’s body of work titled I Want Orgasms, Not Roses focuses on women’s sexuality, in a taboo-busting yet playful way, and seeks to respond to the social situation of women in a broader sense. Balázs Turós, in his personal work The Nature of Things, focuses on his grandmother with dementia and tries to get closer to the eternal question of passing away, while also examining his own relationship to the material.
The jury in 2021 awarded the Capa Grand Prize Hungary of three million forints for the sixth time on the opening day of the exhibition, based on these works and the public presentation of the fellows.
